Explorative Community Collaboration
What is it?
Random Addition began as a desire to create an environment that encouraged loose play with sounds, and to bring as many people as possible into the process. I set up my studio in a temporary space and invite anyone who visits to play, explore and contribute to a single evolving piece of music.
Sitting at home in my studio is nice enough for me, but I really wanted to expand my own inspiration, and also extend this inspiration outward to other people. Its about sharing in the process of music creation - the messy, weird and wonky part, where ideas can be tested out, experiments and explorations had, and where the end result doesnt really matter as much as the playful creative process.
And so I get out every instrument, sound making and tweaking machine, and sound recording device and microphone I have, plug it all in together, open the doors and see what happens!
